2020 Q1, the new Baley World has been fully upgraded and publicly released to the global community, encouraging people to fully test Platon’s test network for high realistic testing.
The New Bailey World Test Network has the following upgrades:
1.EVM smart contract function;

2020 Q2, the WASM smart contract virtual machine was released, which reduced the difficulty of smart contract development, improved the richness of smart contract development, and improved the efficiency of smart contract execution.

Why should we emphasize the importance of data privacy protection nowadays?

Jason: Data is the oil of the digital economy, Data drives the development of other key digital technologies like AI、IOT,further influence the development of digital economy .
Take the AI for example , AI models must be “fed” with massive data to be more intelligent and powerful.
But as the replicability and visibility of data, once the data is given to others, even the owener can not control it.
So no one wants to share their core data, This restricts the circulation of data, also restricts the development of AI because it has not enough data to be fed.
That’s why we need to protect the privacy of data ,not only by law ,but also by technology.

PlatON is always committed to protecting data privacy , How to achieve this goal?
主持人:PlatON一直致力于保护数据隐私,如何实现这一目标?
Jason:
PlatON proposes a data security solution based on VC(Verifiable Computing), MPC (Multi-Party Computation), and HE(homomorphic encryption). And, unlike traditional privacy computing solutions, PlatON is implemented through a combination of software and hardware technologies. The privacy computing task is initiated in the form of a smart contract on the chain, which is then compiled into a gate circuit through the PlatON meta-smart contract and disassembled into a series of orthogonal encrypted subcircuits to perform calculations on dedicated hardware.
The compute node submits a verifiable compute proof after the calculation is completed under the chain (the calculation can be verified according to the proof), and throughout the (calculation and data) interaction process, the compute node cannot know the actual meaning of the calculation process (nor does it know the original data), which is a very advanced technology implementation path in the field of private computing.
Jason:
PlatON提出了一种基于VC(Verifiable Computing)、MPC (Multi-Party Computing)和HE(homomorphic encryption)的数据安全解决方案。而且,与传统的隐私计算解决方案不同,PlatON是通过软件和硬件技术的结合来实现的。

We know that there is another project of LatticeX foundation named Alaya , what’s the relationship between Alaya and PlatON?

Alaya is PlatON’s prelude, a bridge connecting distributed and traditional fifinance. While Alaya is positioned as an experiment and demonstration for innovative technology and distributed fifinance applications, PlatON will continue to grow as a distributed fifinancial infrastructure readily to serve global fifinancial institutions, central banks and partners in fifinancial inclusion. Eventually they will constitute a multi-layered distributed economic ecosystem.
Alaya and PlatON share the same root, based on the same powerful technology, and equally created with the expertise and dedication to become the next generation of distributed fifinancial infrastructure. However, any networks with such ambition are yet to face the sustained trial on their stability, security and scalability, Moreover, their compliance, user experience and compatibility must be fully tested. What’s the native Token of PlatON? What’s the usage of it?
主持人: PlatON的原生通证是什么?有什么用呢?
Jason:
The native token of PlatON is called “LAT”. LAT is unique and important to PlatON, as following:
First, LAT fuels and secures PlatON
When you transfer LAT or use a PlatON application, you need to pay a small LAT as fee. The fee is used to incentivizes the node to process and verify your transaction.In the PPOS mechanism, LAT is of great importance to the network. With LAT, one can delegate to validators or become a validator by staking themselves, which help maintain PlatON network security. Both the validators and delegators can get LAT rewards.
Second, LAT acts as medium of data trading market
As a payment medium, LATs are used to settle trades in the PlatON market for data and computing power. Participants in the PlatON computation network earn LATs by providing data usage, computing power, and algorithms.
Last, LAT supports the development of PlatON DApp ecology
PlatON will further support the development of DApps and DeFi and introduce economic coupling designs for DApps and DeFi. For example, DApps can issue their own tokens which must be backed by LAT reserves. PlatON will also support the development of stable coins collateralized by LAT.

What’s the consensus mechanism of PlatON?

The consensus mechanism of PlatON named “Giskard”, is an enhanced version of PoS(Proof of Stake).
It’s combined with PoS(Proof of stake)、VRF(Verifiable Random Function) and BFT(Byzantine Fault Tolerance).
simply speaking,
1.Elect 201 alternative nodes through PoS;
2.Elect 43 validator nodes from those alternative nodes through VRF;
3.Validator nodes product blocks in turns , then validate the blocks and reach a consensus through BFT.
That’s a method taking into account both decentralization and scalability.
Jason:
PlatON的共识机制名为“Giskard”,是基于PoS(Proof of Stake)的增强版本。
它是PoS(权益证明)、VRF(可验证随机函数)和BFT(拜占庭容错)等技术的结合。

Dose PlatON have a mining mechanism?And how to participate in ?
主持人:PlatON有挖矿机制吗?以及如何参与?
Jason:
As mentioned before,PlatON is a blockchain with the consensus of PoS, Unlike thoes PoW(Proof of Work) project like bitcoin,you don’t need massive hash calculation which consume too much energy.
There is another mechanism as know as staking, in which users with LATs can stake any node as they wish.
Whether a node can be selected as an validator mainly depends on the amount of total staking, which is composed of the staking of LAT of the node itself and the LAT delegated to it. Those nodes ranking top 201 can become alternative nodes.
The alternative nodes may have chance to product blocks and get the corrssponding reward.
The rewards are composed of staking rewards and block-producing rewards and are allocated to delegators in accordance with the delegating reward ratio.
Jason:
如前所述,PlatON是一个基于PoS共识的区块链网络。
它不像比特币这样的PoW(工作证明)项目,你不需要进行需要大量能源消耗的哈希计算。

Is there any similarity between Ethereum and PlatON?

Jason:
PlatON uses distributed ledger to record things , and provide EVM(Ethereum Virtual Machine) for Dapps development , this is similar to Ethereum.
But PlatON has more advanced features.
First, PlatON provide WASM, which with more efficiency and scalability in performance than EVM.
Besides, with verifiable computing, Platon introduces off-chain computing capabilities to the blockchain, which in turn introduces cryptography techniques such as homomorphic encryption and secure multi-party computing to achieve private computing.
These making PlatON more powerful both in performance, scalability, and application scenarios (applies to ordinary scenario, and is suitable for the calculation of privacy protection scenario).

Why does PlatON use verifiable computation? What exactly is homomorphic encryption and how does it provide an advantage? What infrastructure does artificial intelligence provide for distributed applications?

Jason:
The main purpose of VC verifiable calculation is that everyone knows that the compute resource on the blockchain chain is limited, and it is an inevitable choice to extend the compute resource under the chain to serve the calculation on the chain, while VC ensures that the calculation under the chain is credible and verifiable. In Platon’s private computing technology system, VC is combined with MPC secure multi-party computing to ensure that the computing process of each computing node under the chain is verifiable.
For Platon HE homomorphic encryption, as we all know, the core of current AI technology is data. If the value of data can be brought into play (such as for AI model training, data mining, etc.) without data privacy being leaked, this is the advantage provided by homomorphic encryption. It can be processed on the data ciphertext, so that the data privacy is not disclosed, and the acquisition of data value is not affected.
Platon private AI computing network, provide Rosetta as privacy security and AI infrastructure. Rosetta’s message is all three in one: private computing + blockchain + AI.
Now the whole AI industry has encountered a big bottleneck: the data is relatively scattered, in order to improve the accuracy of the whole model, we must be able to get more data; But access to other people’s data is getting harder because of data privacy issues. The problems caused by this “contradiction” have been highlighted throughout the AI industry. Supporting privacy AI will largely alleviate the current “contradiction” in the AI industry, so there will be a huge emerging market.
Data is no longer less valuable the more it is copied, but more valuable the more it is used. Data can finally truly flow “safely” between different applications.
The first product to be built on top of the Rosetta framework will be Data Bank. Data banking is a data asset trading market, which takes all kinds of data production factors as the core service object, and combines privacy AI algorithm and Platon blockchain to create a distributed data asset trading platform.
The “utility” of data is the standard to reflect the value of data, and the embodiment of data utility cannot be separated from privacy computing.

A big problem today is the cost of developing on the blockchain. This is mainly due to the shortage of programmers who understand blockchain technologies, how could PlatON provide solutions to these types of problems?

Jason:
Although blockchain has been born for many years, practitioners all know that the it is still in the early stage of development and belongs to the sunrise industry. As we know, smart contracts have been a core property of blockchain ever since Ethereum kicked off the development of blockchain ecological applications. PlatON takes this very seriously, providing a dual engine mechanism of EVM and WASM smart contract, while its privacy computing technology architecture is closely integrated with WASM smart contract, which is a smart contract engine that can support multi-language development. That’s PlatON’s advantage to many technology developers.
Jason:

Have 3 core issues prevalent in crypto and blockchain: Security, Interoperability, and Scalability. How does your project plan to overcome these issues?

Jason:
That’s a good question. These three aspects cannot be taken into account at the same time, at least in the current technological and cognitive conditions, even the most widely known Bitcoin, Ethereum (especially Ethereum 1.0), after so many years of development, has not been able to fundamentally solve the problem.
The security dimension is immovable, so further decentralization seems to mean a compromise on scalability?
Our best approach is not to add a lot of alternative nodes and validation nodes, which will inevitably cost efficiency, but to increase randomness, reduce reappointment, and join the audit system.
The so-called increase of randomness is to make the election of alternative nodes as random as possible. This is mainly for two purposes: one is to prevent the collusion of block producing nodes; the other is to prevent nodes from predicting the timing of their own election. To put it bluntly, it is to make people who want to do evil so caught off guard that they have no time to prepare to do evil;
The so-called reduction of reappointment means to prevent a node from becoming a block producing node continuously, that is to say, the time for it to master the right of speech is limited.
Called to join the audit system, and other verifier may alternate node ineffective supervision, and, after all, you all the time and energy is limited, not out of the blocks may not carefully check, but it does not matter, we can launch the power of the masses, let the potential evil node in a vast sea of the people’s war, any node can conduct audit and report of evil phenomenon, If verified, the reporting node can also get a corresponding reward, so that maintaining network security becomes everyone’s business.

这是一个很好的问题。这三个方面无法同时兼顾,至少是在当前的技术水平和认知条件下,即使是最广为人知的比特币、以太坊(尤指以太坊1.0),经过这么多年的发展,也没有能从根本上解决这个问题。
安全性这个维度是绝不能动的,那么要更进一步的实现去中心化,似乎意味着只能在可扩展性上进行妥协了?
我们最好的办法,不是大量的增加备选节点和验证节点,因为这必将带来效率上的损耗,而是增加随机性、减少连任、和加入审计制度。
1)所谓增加随机性,就是使得备选节点的选举的越随机越好,这样做主要是两个目的,一个是防止出块节点的串通,二是防止节点预测自己当选的时机,说白了,就是让想作恶的人猝不及防以至于来不及准备作恶;
2)所谓减少连任,就是防止某个节点连续成为出块节点,也就是让其掌握话语权的时间有限;
3)所谓加入审计制度,也许备选节点和其它验证者节点监督不力,毕竟大家时间精力都有限,不是自己出的块可能也不认真检查,但是没有关系,我们可以发动群众的力量,让潜在的作恶节点陷入人民战争的汪洋大海中,任意节点都可以对作恶现象进行审计和举报,如果经验证核实,举报的节点也可以获得相应的奖励,让维护网络安全,成为所有人的事情。

No matter how much do we fight, always appear that kind of users that just want to destroy, Scam or just bother everything, so can you tell us how do you protect yourself against them? There exist punishment to those Nodes that act dishonesty?

In the decentralized environment, it is impossible to eradicate the evil of nodes. Platon deals with this problem in two ways:
